I am a mother of two, a doula and doula mentor for Doula UK. I am passionate about improving the birth experience and early motherhood for other women. My main focus is to combine the best scientific evidence with alternative techniques to enable a woman and couple to birth intact, physically, emotionally and spiritually and to start parenthood with a loving bond with their child.
I have an interest in the design of birthing rooms, in evidence based practice, research and optimal foetal positioning.
I run a homebirth support group, organise a yearly retreat for doulas in the UK, have worked as a reviewer with the NMC.
My first degree was in Marine Biology and previously I worked as a Secondary school science teacher before doing an MPH at John Moores, Liverpool.
In my spare time I am helping to build a 36 foot steel yacht. I enjoy reading, writing poetry and running, travelling and being in nature.
